DISTRICT AND COUNTY COUNCILLORS
Your District and County Councillors are:
Ron Cussons and Stephen and Daniel Shing, and your County Councillors Stephen Shing and Roy Martin. |
NEW PARISH SIGNS
We are delighted that we now have our new signs marking the Parish boundaries. Grateful thanks must go to Wealden District Council and East Sussex County Council who together sponsored the signs. There were five signs in total, one at each end of Wannock, and three in Willingdon – one at each end of the A2270 and one at Seven Sisters Road.

CHRISTMAS IN WILLINGDON
We hope you all enjoyed the Christmas lights and especially the new lights in the tree at the Triangle, pictured opposite, sponsored by Wilmoths Citroen, Willingdon Residents Association, W&JPC Chairman John Pritchett and the Parish Council. Much positive feedback has been received.
BUDGET
The Council has set its budget for 2009/10 at £172,000, which is an increase of 1.2% or 51 pence a year for the average taxpayer.
|
BULBS
At the end of November, the Wealden payback team planted a further 2,000 bulbs in the Parish at the sites put forward by residents. We hope that when Spring arrives, everyone will enjoy yet another amazing display around the Parish. The Council would like to continue to plant bulbs on a yearly basis. If you can think of a suitable area in the Parish for these, please contact the Parish Office.

WILLINGDON AND JEVINGTON IN BLOOM
The Council once again will be encouraging participation in its annual event, Willingdon and Jevington in Bloom. The Council would like to make this event bigger and better than last year, and will be inviting you all to take part. You can visit the Council website to see previous year’s entries and winners. The competition is not only for people in residential dwellings but for local businesses and organizations as well.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
The Council has a duty to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme which is intended to ensure the proactive release of information, and play a crucial role in supporting and providing greater openness and transparency across the public sector.
“Freedom of information” details are available on the website, but you can make an appointment with the Clerk, should you wish to see hard copies of documents relating to the Parish Council. A small agreed levy will be charged for printing documents |
|
PARISH PLAN
The Council is currently working on an updated Parish Plan which will be available shortly. This will help the Council to maintain its focus, and inform you of new developments in your area. Please take time to complete and return the attached questionnaire.
MUSIC IN THE PARK

The Council is planning to hold a Community event “Music in the Park” on Sunday 14 th June at Huggetts Lane Recreation Ground. A full afternoon of musical and family entertainment is being planned including a Teddy Bears Picnic, Wealden Brass Band, New Orleans Echoes Jazz and Old Star Morris.
The event is in aid of the Downland Farm Project and the Parish Council are requesting local businesses to support this community project by making a £50 donation or giving other assistance, in return for publicity and being seen as an important part of local life.
EMERGENCY PLAN
There is no way of knowing if, when or under what circumstances we will need to use an emergency plan. We need to be prepared and if you feel you can provide personal assistance it will be very important to us as part of the whole strategy. Please take time to complete and return the attached questionnaire.
DON’T FORGET IT MAY BE YOU THAT NEEDS HELP!
